The key to successful installation is a stable substrate and the correct adhesive.
Stone Veneer Manufactures in India describes the key steps as follow:
Preparation (The Most Important Step)
Cutting the Sheets (Easy Fabrication)
- Mark: Mark the desired cut line on the backside (the reinforced side) of the sheet.·
- Curved Cuts: For complex shapes or round cutouts (like for electrical outlets), a jigsaw is ideal.·
- Choose the Right Adhesive: Use a high-quality, strong laminate adhesive (often a polymer-based sealant or construction adhesive) recommended for non-porous materials and your specific substrate.
- Apply Adhesive: Apply the adhesive evenly to the back of the veneer sheet using a notched trowel. The entire back surface must be covered to ensure maximum bond strength and prevent water/air pockets.
Application of Adhesive
- Cut: Use a straightedge and common power tools. A carbide-tipped saw blade or diamond cutting disc (like those used for ceramic tiles) on a circular saw, jigsaw, or angle grinder works best.
